Natural Stone: The Material That Lasts
Concrete cracks and fades. Composite decking warrants and requires periodic refinishing. Natural flagstone, properly installed, simply endures — developing character with each passing year rather than degrading. It was the choice for high-quality outdoor spaces for thousands of years for good reason: nothing matches it for natural beauty, thermal comfort, and permanence.
Materials We Work With
Texas Limestone
The defining material of Texas landscape design. Warm cream and buff tones that complement both traditional and contemporary architecture.
Oklahoma Sandstone
Rich earthy brown and rust tones with natural surface texture. Excellent for creating informal, garden-inspired settings.
Slate
Rich charcoal, green, and rust tones. Excellent slip resistance. Well-suited for contemporary and eclectic design aesthetics.
Travertine
Elegant cream and ivory tones with distinctive natural voids. Stays cooler than concrete in Houston summers. Premium pool surround material.
Bluestone
Cool gray-blue tones with a clean, refined appearance. Popular for contemporary patio and walkway applications.
River Rock & Fieldstone
Rounded natural stones used for accent areas, water feature edging, dry creek beds, and informal stepping applications.
Installation Methods
- Dry-laid in sand — Traditional method with excellent drainage. Joints can be left open, filled with decomposed granite, or planted with ground cover.
- Mortar-set on concrete — Maximum stability. Required for formal applications, areas of heavy foot traffic, or where movement is unacceptable.
- Steppers in ground cover — Individual stones set in lawn or ground cover planting for garden path applications. Natural, relaxed aesthetic.
Applications
- Outdoor entertaining patios and dining terraces
- Pool surrounds and spa decks
- Walkways and garden paths
- Entrance steps and landing areas
- Retaining wall coping and caps
- Outdoor kitchen and fireplace surrounds
